A quick update

I am still unpacking the question posed by my ealier post but have been so busy will school, and life right now that i have made little headway into it. So I thought maybe I would give a quick update and show you another amazing question topic posed by Thabiti Anyabwile a pastor in the Gran Cayman islands. He has some very interesting thoughts on "Can the Predominantly African-American Church Be Reformed?", Part 2  , and Part 3. Enjoy!

I am about....

...to tread on sacred ground. For some reason this subject has been popping up a lot  in my conversations and thoughts so I thought, "Hey, why not do a little research and then give my conclusion on what I think about it." Now just what am I talking about you may ask? I reply. What (if any) are the roles in ministry, in the family, and in a political structur of the sexes? Let me rephrase it, does the Bible clearly lay out a plan for feminism/patriarchy? And if it does for either or, what is the plan? So I will be delving in on this fact and update accordingly.

Ok, an update a small and insignificant but I think some defining is n order for us all to be o nthe same page and learn together.

Both of the following definitions come from the: American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition

 patriarchy [(pay-tree-ahr-kee)]
"A family or society in which authority is vested in males, through whom descent and inheritance are traced."

feminism
"The doctrine — and the political movement based on it — that women should have the same economic, social, and political rights as men."

I think it would also be good to define some other terms which seem to crop up with these two.

matriarchy [(may-tree-ahr-kee)]
"A family or society in which authority is held by females, through whom descent and inheritance are traced. More generally, a matriarchy is a society dominated by women."

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1)

machismo [(mah-cheez-moh])

"a strong or exaggerated sense of manliness; an assumptive attitude that virility, courage, strength, and entitlement to dominate are attributes or concomitants of masculinity. "

We have some definitions for which we are now able to concentratew and focus ourselves on. I am reading some sources from about a thousand differing opinions and shall sort it out and be back here tomorrow hopefully. I might be a little swamped with philosophy class, I have to write up a proper defense of God and evil and how they can co-exist. Pray for me, God has given me so many opportunities, and I am so bad at giving them back to Him.

Some news and notables...

...I was thinking today, how I could be "hip and cool" and thus draw in fresh readers of this xanga. But seriously...I'm not going to really try that. But here are some sites I go to that I find "hip and cool"

http://www.theologica.blogspot.com
This site is a nice blend of politics and Christianity, I won't lie to you they are biased in their politics (isn't everyone?) but you will find readers with differing opinions go to the site. I have found a lot of good tools on here for my own growth with Christ so I share.

http://www.cawley.typepad.com
Another site I often visit, Kevin Cawley is a fundamentalist Christian (for many of you that will be the breaker for not visiting this site) avid lover of indie music (including Sufjan) and a good photographer. He has some good news on the Christian world, indie music, and his own thoughts. Good to see other Christians who like good music.

http://www.irishcalvinist.com
This site has quickly become my favorite blog that I visit. Eric the runner of this site is as you may guess has an Irish background and Reformed (Calvinistic) doctrine as his staple on the site. He deals more with questions pn doctrine from a fundamentalists, reformed interpretation. I have found it very helpful especially his Q and A of "Are tattoos biblical?" I would suggest you read that if anything. Good site highly recommended.

Other sites worth mentioning:
http://www.desiringgod.org
John Pipers ministry site, excellent resources, plus he has all of his messages ever to listen to.

http://www.268generation.com
Passion ministries website, once again a lot of good resources for a campus ministries, plus Louie Giglio's talks.

I think thats about it, I want to go to Japan, Stephen P. and I need to get that shiznit on. Yes, I said "shiznit".
